The app came first.
I'm a Southern California peak-bagger. Somewhere along the way I decided I wanted my own record of it — every summit, every route, every day out — without handing my hiking history to somebody else's servers.
So I built one. Summit & Back Again is a hiking and climbing log for SoCal's high country: all 29 of the 10,000-foot peaks, the Six-Pack, automatic summit detection, honest elevation, offline route guidance, and a field guide you write yourself from the top. Everything lives on your phone and nowhere else.
The gear came after. Partly because it's fun. Mostly because the best way to find other people who care about this stuff is to wear it up a mountain.
If you've stood on Baldy in the wind, turned around short of a summit because the daylight ran out, or driven home from Whitney too tired to talk — this is for you.
Built for the climb. Made for the journey.
