Summit & Back Again

A hiking and climbing log built for people who chase summits. It tracks all 29 of Southern California's 10,000-foot peaks and the SoCal Six-Pack of Peaks challenge — but it works anywhere you hike, not just here.

Record any hike, anywhere. Start a recording, lock your phone, and go. It captures your route, distance, and elevation gain and loss with honest math that filters out GPS noise, so your numbers mean something. When you reach a summit, the app knows — no button to press, no signal required. Works in the backcountry with no cell service for miles.

Add your own mountains and trails. The 29 peaks are just the start. Add any summit anywhere by dropping a pin on a satellite map — no typing coordinates. Add trails, then turn any hike you've recorded into that trail's real route line, so the map shows the path you actually walked instead of a straight line to the top. Every mountain and trail you add is yours to edit or delete.

Know what's ahead. Pick a target peak and see how far and how much climbing you have left, calculated along the actual trail and computed offline using your own historical pace. Watch your daylight count down, computed from your position with no network needed. Set a turnaround time and get alerted when it arrives, along with exactly how far you still are from the summit — so the decision to descend is informed, not abstract.

Log climbs too. Rock, alpine, ice, mixed, aid, and bouldering, with every grade system — YDS, V-scale, WI, M, A, plus alpine commitment grades. Record style, pitches, partners, and photos. A send pyramid shows your grade distribution and where your climbing stands.

Bring your history with you. Import years of hikes from AllTrails or Strava with a GPX export — routes, summits, elevation, and photos, matched to the right hike automatically. Nothing gets left behind on someone else's platform.

Remember it. Photos pinned to the mountainsides where you took them. Elevation profiles showing the shape of every climb. Achievements you earn by climbing. Personal records on every peak — your fastest, your first, your fifteenth. A field guide you write yourself, adding the plants and animals you actually saw from the actual summit. Weather forecasts for any peak. A year-in-review map of everywhere you stood.

Plan the next one. Keep a list of peaks you're going after, with forecasts. Build a trip plan and send it to someone at home before you go. Share a trail with a hiking partner as a file they can import.

Your data stays yours. No account. No cloud. No ads. Nobody selling where you hike. Everything lives on your phone, and you can export all of it any time.

Built by a Southern California peak-bagger. Tested on real mountains.
